This weekend is a holiday for those who live in Canada.
It’s Victoria Day. And that means that we are going to celebrate being a part of the Commonwealth and having pictures of Queen Elizabeth on our money… by having a drink.
May Long weekend typically marks the beginning of Summertime Fun. Or, at least, the DREAM of Summertime Fun.
A group of fabulous bloggers and I had been thinking about a way to “toast” the upcoming summer months; we thought it apropos to showcase a collection of delicious summer cocktails.
Pin or bookmark this post; you’ll be coming back to it as you plan out dinner parties and barbeques. I like to play mixologist at our get-togethers. Fancy drinks just make me feel….. fancy!
And speaking of fancy, doesn’t a martini glass glitz up the night? Snuggle up with a sweetheart and have yourself a Sweet Tart!
I’m a poet. Bow down, peeps.
This drink tastes just like those delicious little candies that you gobbled as a kid (or last week… if you’re a kid of the grown-up variety). Make this drink as tart or as sweet as you like, just add lime juice to your taste!
- 1 oz Absolut Vodka
- 1 oz Amaretto
- 1 oz Blue Curacao
- 1 tbsp of simple syrup (1 cup water to 1/2 cup sugar)
- Two splashes of lime juice (or more, if you like it tart)
- Make the simple syrup by heating up the sugar and water in a saucepan until the sugar is melted. Let the liquid cool (this can be stored in the fridge for up to a week)
- In a shaker filled with ice, add the ingredients and firmly close the top.
- Shake until chilled and pour into a martini glass.
- Garnish with a twist of lime.
Trust me. This drink is delicious.
And so pretty. Don’t you love the turquoise?
But wait! Before you head off to the store in search of Blue Curacao… I have some other enticing libations to share with you…

If you are in Ontario try this drink with Silver Lake Premium vodka instead of Absolute. The Distillery is based out of Port Dover Ontario
