I know. I’ve already made Valentines this week. 

But I have two kids. Which means two preschool classes. Which means I get to break out the red and pink cardstock TWICE. 

I’ll probably be trying to convince the girls to make Valentines into their high school years. That’s not THAT weird, is it? 

This post is a special one because it is a part of the monthly #MyFavoriteBloggers themed posts. This month, our theme was “hearts”. At the end of this post, please visit the other wonderful heart-shaped projects created by my dear friends.  

The materials needed for these sweet little Valentines can be found at the dollar store.

You will need:

Red, orange and white cardstock
Red Doilies
Scissors
Glue Dots
Hole Punch
Valentine pencils 

The heart-shapes were easily cut out by kidlets – I folded the cardstock in half and traced half of a heart on one side. 

Sometimes we craft in our jammies. It happens. 

Lucy did her best to cut out heart shapes. Her three-year old hands were determined to do the same things that her sister’s did.

Larger hearts were cut from the pinky-red cardstock, while smaller hearts were cut from the white cardstock. 

Using glue dots, the hearts were layered on top of each other and sandwiched together. 

 This is a task that Lucy was more than able to handle. The glue dots quickly became her favourite task.  

Once the hearts were assembled, I punched out a hole on either side of the hearts. I had to punch through a few times to make a hole large enough for the pencil to slip through. 

I found that it took a grown-ups’ hand to slip the pencils through the heart. 

 From the orange cardstock, I cut a triangle “point”  and  “feather” for the arrow. 

 Two more glue-dots and the Valentine is complete! A quick and easy (and pre-schooler friendly) craft. 

 With a little gift: a pencil for each child. 

It took us about an hour to whip up 20 little Valentines, ready to be slipped into those sweet little heart-dotted envelopes.
