… and she labelled all the things!

Seriously. If you give me a label-maker, you know what’s going to happen. The kids will start walking around with name tags on their foreheads. You’ll hear me muttering, “Well, wouldn’t this be so much better with a LABEL?!?”

But before I tackle the house – school supplies!

My child put a tattoo on her face right before we did this. I know. It’s hard to look at.  

We were given a Brother PT-D600 label maker to play with, just in time for the never-ending label-fest that is Back to School. It’s a skookum label maker that can be hooked up to your computer (both PC and Mac) for custom designs. Or, you can use it on its own with its stored fonts and graphics. 

What I loved most about it? The graphics that we could add to each label.

Similar to custom-order labels, I can add little images and symbols to each label, depending on what I’m labelling. And dependent on what child is standing next to me wanting to help. 

It’s a QWERTY keyboard, so I can easily type out the words I want to use. Lila was thrilled to make her own labels.

So easy, a six year old can operate it. It has a built-in cutter, so pressing “print” means that a little label will be spat out of the machine in seconds. 

Before long, Lila had worked her way through her entire stack of supplies. She diligently peeled and stuck…

… and in no time at all, we were done!

For scissors and other awkward-to-label items, we just added a bunch of extra spaces onto the end of the word, and then used that length to wrap the label onto itself. 

This is also handy for loops on backpacks and pencil cases.

Mama went a bit label-crazy too. I have a love of bento-style lunchkits for my girls. And they’re not cheap.

So a large-font label – one that will stay on in the dishwasher – gets slapped onto those. Those most definitely need to come home.

And a new system for the copious amount of art that comes home. It gets filed… and then “curated”. (I just have to wait for them to forget about a few pieces before I edit the collection)

The craft room needs all the help it can get….

So yeah, you can see that this is already a problem. Mr. Suburble is probably worried that I’m going to start labelling his things.

I’m loving this fabulous machine and its crazy capabilities. I’m using the 24mm laminated tape for these labels because I love how large and noticeable they are. When it comes to school supplies and expensive lunch kit-things – I want people to notice. But there are various colours and sizes of label tape that works with this machine. It has up to 8 font sizes, and heaps and heaps of stored graphics.  You can even use iron-on labels for clothing and coats!

If you have a “label-lover” hidden in your soul like I do, you should get your hot little hands on this thing. You can’t help yourself… you start organizing!
