I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Pier 1 Imports. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and to thank me for participating. But like any other post on Suburble, the opinions and ideas in this post are my own.
I love a good party al fresco. Since we live in a rainy climate, it makes those warm, sunny days that much more valuable.
If we can spend time eating and drinking and watching the kids run through the grass, why wouldn’t we? And so when I got the chance to add a bit of style from Pier 1 Imports to our my sister and brother-in-laws’ backyard space (remember, we live in their basement right now!), I jumped at the chance!
You know I can’t pass up a bird. It was yelling at me from the shelf, “I need to come home with you! And bring my yellow cousin.” They didn’t have to ask me twice.
I love good mood lighting. These gorgeous blue lanterns made such a lovely centrepiece. Their height and size draws the eye – perhaps just a touch of drama. And the hints of gold around the Moroccan-style finishes were just too much.
Into the cart they went!
You might have noticed these in a few pictures. These are stemless acrylic wine glasses. They are my new favourite wine glass. Ever. They look like glass. They’re guaranteed not to fog or crack in the dishwasher. And they won’t shatter into eleventy billion pieces on the patio.
And they look just. like. glass.
Have I said that already?
The kidlets had lemonade in their glasses, but we grown-ups had to test-drive them with the real deal. In fact, my sister-in-law loved these glasses so much that she went and bought a set for herself.
Good fake-glass is hard to come by.
Like any nutty hostess, I only managed to catch photos of the kids hovering over the snack bowls. The adults chattered away…
… while the gang hovered over the appetizers.
But you can’t deny their cuteness.
Everyone seems to be their best – their most angelic self – at a party.
Hanging above us were these fantastic paper lanterns. At the bottom of each was a battery pack – which powered a small LED light inside each lantern.
And that meant magic at night. With just the flick of a switch.
The kidlets stayed up past their bedtimes, and the grownups chattered until the candlelight was flickering off of our faces. It’s the sign of a great night… the sun slipping beneath the trees before everyone tucks themselves into bed.
But before you slip away too… enter to win a $25 gift card from Pier 1 Imports!
Get yourself some party lighting, or a bird pillow… … or really… you need to get those acrylic wine glasses. They’re too awesome.

I thought I added my item I take to parties…I usually like to take a salad that is either a Pasta Salad that can be kept cold, or a green salad with items to customize to each person’s preference. With or with out various veggies so everyone is happy and not just a tossed salad with items they’ll lick out or just bypass the salad as it’s too much trouble to get out the items they aren’t fond of !
Lisa Aliperti

I came across your blog; it seems that you had a blast in your party.
The lanterns that you have used are looking stunning and yes this idea of using lantern as an outdoor lighting can never go off.
The best part of these lanterns is that no one can presume that they are made of plastic.
Awesome post!!
